Houston Rockets May Fire Kevin McHale Before End of Season
By Josh Hill
Houston Rockets fans want to see their team take the next big step it should have taken last year. But if that doesn’t start happening soon, there could be a coaching change as early as the middle of the year.
Kevin McHale has been around basketball all his life, and he knows better than anyone when something isn’t working. Right now, if you asked McHale what wasn’t working in Houston, you may hear him fall on the sword and blame himself in a way that brings back vintage memories of coaches from the past.

But McHale is just part of the problem and he may extract himself from the situation and replacing himself as head coach.
According to Sam Amick from USA Today, the Rockets may end up making a coaching change in the middle of the season at the behest of McHale himself.
"If the James Harden-Dwight Howard Rockets aren’t contending for a top spot in the Western Conference and looking like a team that can make some noise in the playoffs, McHale may be the first to raise his hand and say a change should be made. He’s in it to win it, as they say, and the fact that he has no new deal beyond this coming season isn’t seen as a point of contention."
Amick goes on to say that no one should hold their breath for a coaching change, but being surprised if one happens in the middle of the season isn’t something that anyone should be.
