Ndamukong Suh is the highest paid player in the NFL. Suh counts for an amazingly high 17 percent of Detroit’s adjusted cap space for the 2014 season. Detroit’s disruptive defensive tackle is a great player, but no individual player is worth that much cash, not even a quarterback.

To put Suh’s salary cap number in perspective, his cap number number makes up one-sixth of the Lion’s entire cap space. There are 105 other players who make up the rest. (This includes active roster, practice squad, injured reserve, and players no longer with the team who’s contract included dead money on this season’s salary cap.)

Suh is a free agent after this season (though he has a player-option that he is unlikely to use). This means that Detroit will have a lot of extra cap space to use this offseason, even if they are able to re-sign Suh to a very large contract.
