Ohio State student Anthony Wunder will keep his scholarship after all.
The 21-year-old infamously ran onto the Ohio Stadium field during Ohio State’s home game against Cincinnati in September and was body-slammed to the ground by the school’s strength coach. The college football world instantly fell in love with the incredible video of the incident.
The engineering major was first expected to be removed from the Evans Scholars program. However, Wunder has pled guilty to misdemeanor criminal trespassing and will keep his scholarship, according to the Associated Press.
"Twenty-one-year-old Anthony Wunder was fined $100 plus court costs Thursday in Franklin County Municipal Court. He had originally pleaded not guilty in September. (…)"
"Wunder’s Attorney Mark Collins says Wunder has apologized for his actions. Wunder will retain his scholarship from the Evans Scholars Foundation, but cannot live in the group’s house on campus or participate in Evans Scholars activities until he’s completed recommendations made during various assessments."
Wunder has to be feeling extremely fortunate right now, considering he very nearly paid the ultimate price for his ridiculous act.
Ohio State’s next home game is this Saturday against Rutgers. I feel pretty confident in saying that Wunder won’t be there.
The Buckeyes are currently 4-1 and the N0. 13 team in the nation.
