NFL quarterbacks are treated like rock stars, so it comes as no surprise that they lead the NFL as a group in total jersey sales.
When kids are growing up, they want to be one of two things — a quarterback or a rock star. Thanks to the boom in football culture and popularity in America, being a quarterback means being both. Just like rock gods of years past, NFL quarterback are praised like no other group of athletes in American sports.

For full proof of this you need to look no further than the stats. According to DICK’s Jersey Report, the NFL is being dominated by quarterback jersey sales. They may not have the majority of the sales, but quarterbacks are the single best selling position in football and own a huge piece of the sales pie.

This really isn’t that surprising but seeing it drawn out really proves that the NFL is a quarterback driven league in more than one way. Not only have quarterbacks changed the sport, but they’ve changed the way the game is marketed. Guys like Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning are in commercials and on magazine covers. Even quarterbacks who have proven absolutely nothing at the pro level, like Johnny Manziel, have seen their jersey sales boom.

Quarterbacks are the new rock stars and that’s the way the NFL wants it. They get paid the most, they get treated the best and their jerseys are among some of the hottest clothing items on the market.
