The announcement was made during a press event at Bridgestone Arena, months after the league had alluded to the decision being made. This will be only the second All-Star Game in the NHL since 2012, since the game was cancelled in 2013 due to the lockout and 2014 due to the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The 2015 game will be hosted by the Columbus Blue Jackets, but the Predators seem even more excited for their own event the subsequent season. This will be the team’s first-ever All Star Event, and only the second-ever major NHL event to be hosted by the team (Nashville hosted the 2003 NHL Entry Draft).
Although the Predators are excited to have received the honor, though, it seems that not every team is quite that thrilled for them. The Arizona Coyotes are still stinging over their own lost All-Star game back in 2006, which was cancelled due to the Winter Olympics in Torino. The League has reportedly promised the Coyotes that they are owed a game, but have yet to see when that ‘makeup’ game would be hosted.
