San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews needs to get back to work, but he has yet to be cleared to do so anytime soon.
Ryan Mathews was drafted to help the San Diego Chargers offense explode, but so far he’s been on the sidelines with an injury during one of the best runs the team has been on during his tenure on roster.

That’s not something that is going to change anytime soon either, as the Chargers are going to continue to run without Mathews in the lineup for the time being. According to the Union-Tribune, Mathews still hasn’t been cleared for contact and hasn’t even been cleared to return to running yet.
"Ryan Mathews knelt over at his locker Wednesday. He slipped into running shoes. He wore gray, light-material pants fit for running.Almost time?“I’m hoping,” Mathews said. “I’m just taking it one day at a time. When they think it’s time for me to start running, then it’s time to start running. It’s all in their hands.”"
Mathews will return to action this season, but he’s unlikely to make a major impact until he’s fully healed. For that, the Chargers holding him out is smart as there is no need to rush him back when the situation at his position seems to be working itself out rather nicely and unexpectedly.
