Texas Christian University has been a surprise story out of college football‘s Big 12 Conference this season. Ranked 12th in the nation following a tough loss to Baylor, the Horned Frogs welcome the Cowboys of Oklahoma State into town. Fortunately, they will have their starting quarterback, Trevone Boykin on the field.

There was some significant concern with Boykin’s status after injuring his non throwing wrist. However, TCU head coach Gary Patterson said that Boykin will definitely play against Oklahoma State. In assessing his ability during practice, Patterson said, “He’s been awesome.”
During practice this week, Boykin has been wearing a soft cast, and has been managing just fine. Judging the outlook for Saturday, Patterson said of the cast, “It will be where he can manage it and do the things he needs to do,”
Apparently Boykin was injured during the loss to Baylor, however, Patterson said he wasn’t aware of the injury, noting that Boykin “is a tough kid.”
Trevone Boykin has been everything that the Horned Frogs have needed this year. The junior has racked up over 1,400 passing yards, tossing 11 touchdowns and only being picked off twice. He’s also added over 300 yards on the ground and another three touchdowns.
Against the Cowboys, TCU will need a complete game to pull of the win. Oklahoma State comes in ranked 15th in the nation, and having only lost to Florida State in the first week of the season. However, Oklahoma State will travel to TCU having faced a very weak slate of opponents in recent weeks, with the most competitive foe being a bad Kansas team.
Look for Boykin to again lead the Horned Frogs to victory, but to watch as Patterson monitors the injury situation throughout the game.
TCU and Oklahoma State kick off on Saturday at 4:00pm ET.
