The Buffalo Bills aren’t happy with C.J. Spiller’s style of running.

The Buffalo Bills are 3-3 so far this season, a pretty respectable record. The Bills have one of the NFL’s best running back duos in C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, though it looks like there is trouble in the backfield.

Apparently the Bills and the offensive coordinator Nate Hackett isn’t thrilled with Spiller’s running style. Specifically that Spiller is always looking to be a home-run threat and break off a big run instead of focusing on hitting the whole and trying to get the yardage available.

Now clearly this coaching staff isn’t the one that drafted Spiller, but Hackett’s complaints come across as misinformed. Spiller has always been that big play, home run threat kind of player, never the bruiser in-between the tackles. Sounds like they’re trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

The Bills coaching staff could always try to develop an offense that use’s Spiller’s strengths and talents in a way that sets them up to succeed, maybe along the lines of what the Philadelphia Eagles do with Darren Sproles.

It isn’t like they don’t have Fred Jackson to do the heavy lifting to work Spiller into the offense in ways more suited for his skill set.
