Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic fined $5,000 by the NHL after rude gestures to the fans during Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic appeared to make a rude gesture to fans when he entered the penalty box in yesterday’s away game against the Montreal Canadians. The NHL reviewed the tape and decided to give Milan Lucic a $5,000 fine.

This comes from ESPN hockey writer, Pierre LeBrun:

Milan Lucic was given a two-minute boarding penalty at 18:40 when he hit the Canadiens’ Alexei Emelin. Milan Lucic did not agree with the call, and as he entered the box, he made a motion with his right hand and then joked to fans as if he was lifting the Stanley Cup.

Milan Lucic, known as one of the NHL’s bad boys, or annoying dirty players, screamed something at the referee when he was leaving and was ejected from the game after the Canadiens scored an empty-net, power-play goal.

Montreal took the victory 6-4.

According to ESPN.com, Milan Lucic was not made available to the media after the game despite numerous requests. When Bruins coach Claude Julien was asked for his thoughts on the penalty, he said: “No comments.”

Milan Lucic has been with the Bruins for eight years. Last season, Lucic finished playing 80 games with 24 goals, 35 assists and 59 points overall.
