The Dallas Cowboys may be the best team in football so far in 2014.
They’ve lost just one game – their season opener against the San Francisco 49ers – and are fresh off of a road win over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks.
The player who closed things out was linebacker Rolando McClain.
Rolando McClain was the eighth-overall pick int he first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders but only lasted three years. A comeback with the Baltimore Ravens didn’t work out and he finally wound up joining the Cowboys.
He is now the Cowboys’ leading tackle and a big reason for the success of their defense. He is their leading tackler despite missing a game. Rolando McClain has made 43 tackles, has two interceptions, two tackles for loss and a sack on the season. After the season, he can become a free agent but that isn’t something he wants to talk about.
“We haven’t talked about it and I’m not worried about it,” McClain said of his future via Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. “I’m getting ready for the Giants.”
He’s simply enjoying his time with the team.
“I’m just happy to be with the Dallas Cowboys,” McClain said. “I’m happy with our success so far. I’m having fun with my teammates. Having a good time, gelling together and playing some good ball right now.”
The Cowboys will have their hands full in the offseason. One of the league’s best wide receivers, Dez Bryant, and the league’s leading rusher, DeMarco Murray, will also be free agents.
The Cowboys and Giants will kick-off from Cowboys Stadium at 4:25 pm EST Sunday.
