The Dallas Cowboys are off to a hot start in 2014 and Jerry Jones thinks part of the success is because Tony Romo is playing his best football of his NFL career
Jerry Jones has always been the biggest fan of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo so it should come as no surprise to hear the team’s owner/president/general manager say on Friday that his quarterback is playing his best football of his NFL career.

“I don’t know that I can say that I’ve ever seen him play better,” Jones told KRLD-FM on Friday. “We’ve seen him certainly do what Romo does. That is, instinctively make plays.”
“We’ve seen him basically protect the ball, and I know for a fact that he’s bought into his working and the coordination that he has to have with (play-caller Scott) Linehan,” Jones added.

The Landry Hat
Romo has led the Cowboys to a 5-1 record and are in first place in the NFC East as Romo has completed 68.6 percent of his passes, if he maintains this clip it will be the highest mark he’s recorded since the 2010 season when he completed 69.5 percent of his passes.
His 251.7 yards per game would represent the lowest mark he’s had since he was named the starter in 2010 and his interception percentage is 2.6, which is comparable to the 2.9 mark he posted when he led the league in interceptions with 19 in 2012.
However, the drop in yards can be attributed to the record pace running back DeMarcu Murray is on carrying the ball and the amount of yards he has had in the first six games with six, 100-yard games to start the year, matching the NFL record held by Jim Brown.
Statistically Romo may not be having his best season of his career, but as a field general you would be hard to argue that he’s been better during his nine years as the team’s starting quarterback and the only stats that really matter for Cowboys fans or Romo is the win column.
