LeBron James enjoyed the KIA K900 so much, he called the company to ask for one.
When you build a car and that car doesn’t sell well, it’s usually time to scrap the model and either try making another car or try a different industry altogether. Or there’s Option C, in which LeBron James calls you out of nowhere and decides he wants to endorse your car. Then you build a whole lot more cars and ride the wave as far as LeBron takes you.

KIA recently fell into Option C with their K900 luxury sedan, which had compiled poor sales to date. However, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James called KIA up after getting a whiff of the car and asked for one because that’s what rich guys with tons of leverage do.
“They’re also the title sponsor of the NBA and they did a lot of great promoting as far as the game,” James said per an ABC report. “And me being one of the top guys in our league, to try to promote the game, I thought it was fitting.”
James had donated every KIA car he won for winning the NBA MVP award, but he couldn’t resist hanging on to a K900. The executives at KIA were predictably just happy to have caught the break.
“It was a great call to get,” Tim Chaney, vice president of marketing at Kia Motors America, told ESPN.com, per the ABC report. “We were not actively seeking another endorser, but LeBron told us, after driving the car around this summer, that he liked it so much, that we decided to partner with him. He brought us instant credibility.”
Look for James to drive the car to any Cavs game this year, per his agreement with KIA. He will not be exclusively rolling in the K900 though because he has about 20 luxury cars.
