The Los Angeles Dodgers are seeking a new general manager to work under team president Andrew Friedman, and Josh Byrnes has reportedly emerged as a leading candidate as the MLB off-season approaches for most teams.

Josh Byrnes is making the rounds in the National League West. First it was the Arizona Diamondbacks. Then it was the San Diego Padres. Now Byrnes might be headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Things are fluid in Los Angeles as the team undergoes a significant shakeup. Andrew Friedman, the star executive who was behind all of the success of the Tampa Bay Rays in recent seasons, is now the team president. He is going to hire a general manager to work with him, and Jon Heyman of CBS reports that Byrnes is the leading candidate to be that general manager:
"Byrnes is viewed as a strong possibility to get the coveted job, as sources familiar with the situation say his experience is viewed as a plus for a storied, big-market team with heavy media coverage and add that his philosophy aligns with that of Friedman. The pair are also said to be fairly close, though a prior relationship had been less than obvious."
The Padres fired Byrnes mid-season in 2014 to go another direction. If he were to land the job with the Dodgers, he would have the opportunity to exact revenge on the team he used to serve with all of the payroll and resources he could hope for. That’s not to mention the fact that he would be working with Friedman.
Four of the five teams in the National League West have changed general managers since the start of the 2014 season. The only team that did not, the San Francisco Giants, is preparing for the World Series. There should be plenty of action this off-season as the rest of the division tries to keep up.
