The Green Bay Packers will be without Sam Shields on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers due to injury.

The Green Bay Packers are currently sitting at 4-2 and have been one of the NFL’s hottest teams over the past few weeks. Aaron Rodgers has the offense rolling, and the defense has been stepping up as well. Unfortunately, the Packers will be without one of their best defensive playmakers on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers with Sam Shields sitting out due to injury.

More from Green Bay Packers

According to a report from USAToday.com, the Packers will be without Shields due to the knee strain that he suffered in Green Bay’s win over the Miami Dolphins.

Shields has played in all six regular season games so far with the Packers, compiling 14 tackles to go along with two interceptions. He signed a new deal with the Packers this past offseason, and has been playing up to the payday that he received. Green Bay is going to have a tough time replacing him, but head coach Mike McCarthy did make it clear that he is getting better.

At this point in time, there is no word on whether or not he will miss more than just one game. The Packers will be facing a very tough quarterback in Cam Newton, and will need all the help they can get. Veteran cornerback Tramon Williams was also injured against the Dolphins, but his status is still up in the air for Sunday.

Hopefully Shields is able to heal quickly and get back out on the field without missing any other games. He will be missed against the Panthers, but the Packers have some players who are more than capable of stepping up to fill his shoes.
