Phoenix Suns Owner Apologizes To Fans For Spurs Sitting Players (Video)
By Hayden Kane
Phoenix Suns‘ owner Robert Sarver apologized to fans and offered to send a gift because the San Antonio Spurs sat many of their main players in a preseason game earlier this week as they prepared for the start of the NBA season.
In pure basketball terms, the San Antonio Spurs have every right to sit their main players if they want to. The practice by the Spurs of sitting star players or not even having them make the trip has been called into question in the past, and it became an issue again this week in a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns.

It might be less of an issue during the preseason given the relative meaningless nature of the games. That said, people are still spending good money to attend the games. It is with that in mind that Suns’ managing partner Robert Sarver addressed fans mid-game to apologize for the fact that they did not get to see the game they paid to see.
Watch for yourself.
Here in the transcript of Sarver’s speech (from azcentral.com):
"“Hey, everybody, I want to thank you for coming out tonight. This is not the game you paid your hard-earned money to watch. I apologize for it. And I want you to send me your tickets if you came tonight with a return envelope and I’ve got a gift for you on behalf of the Suns for showing up tonight. Thank you.”"
The implied shot at the Spurs might rub them the wrong way, but ultimately, this is just a very cool gesture from Sarver. Hopefully he sends the fans something good.
