Days after hiring Jeff Banister to be their manager, the Texas Rangers now want to discuss the extension of general manager Jon Daniels
According to ESPNDallas.com, the Texas Rangers are looking at extending the contract of general manager Jon Daniels. There appears to be no rush to get the deal done as the goal is to have it completed by the time spring training rolls around.

Jon Daniels added president of baseball operations of the Rangers to his team role in March 2013. Daniels has been the general manager of the Rangers since 2005. At the time he was the youngest person to be hired as a general manager in MLB at 28-years-old in 2005, Daniels is now 37.
The Rangers are just coming off their first losing season (67-95) since 2008. They went to the World Series in 2010 and 2011 and lost in the American League Wild Card game in 2012. They had won at least 90 games in each of their previous four seasons.
The Rangers will want to have this done of course by spring in order to avoid any in-season distractions as the Rangers try to forget about their disappointing 2014 season. Now that they have their manager in place it only makes sense to wrap up what seems to be a very well liked general manager who in his words loves the organization and the community.
