Two Georgia Politicians Fight Over Todd Gurley
Two Georgia politicians engaged in supporting Todd Gurley on Thursday on Twitter as part of a movement to get Gurley reinstated and resume playing for the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Georgia Bulldogs didn’t have Todd Gurley last week after he was suspended by the team relating to autographs and memorabillia he may have given for money, which is a massive violation of NCAA rules. Without Todd Gurley, Georgia didn’t seem helpless, destroying the Mizzou Tigers 35-0.

Now, it sounds like Todd Gurley may not return for this Saturday’s match-up against Arkansas, but people are still showing support for the super star running back including Georgia politicians.
Jason Carter, the grandson of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, is a democrat state senator in Georgia who is running governor in 2014. He took to Twitter to show his support, and maybe try to gain some votes, using the hashtag: Free Gurley.
Republican Nathan Deal, who is the current governor of Georgia and is running for re-election, is having absolutely none of it, calling out his political opponent on Twitter with a sharp jab.
While the Twitter jab was absolutely entertaining and well-put together, we’re not sure Deal has much of an argument. Carter did attend the University of Georgia to get his J.D. and Deal didn’t attend UGA at all. Not to say you can’t be a fan if you didn’t attend a certain school, but you can’t tell him he only supports Georgia during election season. Regardless, it was a good play by the incumbent Governor.
Todd Gurley has rushed for 773 yards and eight touchdowns in five games this season. He and Georgia will be waiting on the NCAA to either accept Georgia’s self-imposed suspension or announce a longer suspension and possibly additional penalties.
