American golfer Webb Simpson is complaining about his Ryder Cup experience almost a month after the fact, citing that he only got to play in two matches.

News and reaction from players continues to flow in from the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2014 that saw numerous problems between captain Tom Watson as well as other instances. For Webb Simpson, the final pick for Team U.S.A., he’s still disappointed in his experience at the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Webb Simpson is teeing it up for the first time since the Ryder Cup this week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and had more complaints on his Ryder Cup experience.

“The golf side was a terrible experience because I only played in two matches,” Simpson said. “I showed up in Scotland really ready to play and excited to play, and when you sit through three matches in a row, it’s tough.

“So the golf part for me stunk, I’m not going to lie. I mean, if I said the golf was great, you could call me a liar, and we didn’t win. If I sit three matches and we win, I’ll have a different answer.”

Webb Simpson was the final captain’s pick. In fact, most of the U.S. team was told that Bill Haas would be Watson’s final pick before Simpson reportedly texted Tom Watson late on the night before his selection, begging him to reconsider. Watson did, but it didn’t show for anything. Simpson missed six cuts in 2014 and had one win, in the first tournament of the year. Bill Haas was consistent and didn’t miss a single cut.

In the Ryder Cup, Simpson played in the opening match with Bubba Watson against Europeans Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson. The U.S. pair played terrible, losing the match 5 and four. This sat the pair for the rest of the day and Simpson didn’t play at all in the two sessions on Saturday.

Let’s be honest, Webb, you’re not quite in a spot to complain. You should be so lucky that you even made it onto the team that clearly had other better options including Bill Haas, Chris Kirk and Billy Horschel. You got your way onto the team, then was awarded to play in the opening match, played awful and now you’re complaining about your playing time? But congrats on tying Ian Poulter in the singles play, that half point was super vital.
