Blake Griffin almost decided to take his scuffle with Trevor Booker to the next level, but decided it wasn’t worth it.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

In the third quarter of the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz game Friday, Blake Griffin and Trevor Booker got in each other’s faces and it looked like a fight was going to breakout before referees stepped in.

The confrontation started when Booker committed a hard foul on Griffin who was going up for a dunk. Griffin grabbed the back of Booker’s head, but that was where it stopped. According to Melissa Rohlen of the Los Angeles Times, Griffin considered taking the fight further.

"“I was going to and then thought, it’s preseason, it’s not worth it,” Griffin said. “That’s nothing personal to waste it on.” […]“It’s more about standing up for yourself,” he said. “There are times when hard fouls are just a part of the game, and then there’s times when they’re a little bit further than that. I’m not saying that’s what that was tonight. Like I said, I’ve just got to use my judgment.”"

Griffin is the recipient of many hard fouls due to his physical play and constant presence in the post. Over the years, some have said he should stick up for himself more in order to prevent opponents from fouling so hard. Others say he should just keep playing through it. While there is probably no right answer, it shows a lot of self control when Griffin doesn’t retaliate. Especially when he’s in the middle of a confrontation like he was Friday.
