College Football Picks Against The Spread Afternoon Games October 18
By Mike Marteny
If you would like a summation of what is going on here, and want to track my earlier picks, here they are:
Info and Thursday-Friday picks
This post is for the kickoffs between 3:30 and 6 pm eastern.
Appalachian State at Troy(-6.5): Troy has been playing better lately. I will take the Trojans at home.
(21)Texas A&M at (7)Alabama(13.5): This might be a touch high. Especially with the way the Alabama defense has had some issues. Give me A&M.
UCLA(-7.5) at California: Have they watched Cal try to play defense? This is too low. Bruins win big for my lock of the day!
New Mexico at Air Force(-9.5): I’m not sure why this is dropping. Give me the Falcons at home.
Army(-3.5) at Kent State: Way too low. I’m taking Army!
Ball State at Central Michigan(-8.5): The Chippewas are playing better lately. The Cardinals are not. Give me CMU.
Rutgers at (13)Ohio State(-21.5): I was hoping it wouldn’t be this big. I don’t think Rutgers stays close, but three plus touchdowns is a lot. Give me Rutgers, I guess.
UAB at Middle Tennessee State(EVEN): I like UAB with the way their offense has been playing. Give me the Blazers.
North Carolina State at Louisville(-17.5): I don’t care how high this is, the Wolfpack have been cover bait against everyone but FSU. I’m taking the Cardinals.
Cincinnati(-13.5) at SMU: SMU finally looked good against ECU. I think they keep it up against the Bearcats at home. Give me the Ponies.
(24)Clemson(-4.5) at Boston College: The Eagles have played well at home, and Watson is out. Can Stoudt lead the Tigers to a victory? Probably. I will take Clemson.
(8)Michigan State(-16.5) at Indiana: I’m not entirely sure that the Spartans can beat the Hoosiers by this much considering they couldn’t do it against Purdue at home. That said, without Sudfeld, Indiana is one dimensional. Give me Sparty.
Kansas at Texas Tech(-13.5): Nope, I don’t buy it. The Red Raiders have had troubles on both sides of the ball, and the Jayhawk defense is playing quite well. I’m going with Kansas.
(15)Oklahoma State at (12)TCU(-10.5): I don’t like this line at all. TCU was scorched by Baylor, and I do expect another shootout. Meaning this stays a one score game. Give me Oklahoma State.
(10)Georgia(-3.5) at Arkansas: Georgia won’t be able to manhandle Arkansas like they did Missouri. I like the Hogs straight up!
San Jose State(-2.5) at Wyoming: I actually like the Cowboys straight up at home.
New Mexico State at Idaho(-4.5): Are the Aggies really this bad? I hope not. Give me NMSU.
Miami(OH) at Northern Illinois(-13.5): The Redhawks are still awful. Give me NIU.
