According to Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, the Colts offense is exactly what the team envisioned and expected.
The Indianapolis Colts offense isn’t just good, it’s scary good. After starting their 2014 season 0-2 with single digit losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos, the Colts offense is taking over the NFL and is 4-0 posting a 4-2 record going into week seven.
The Indianapolis Colts are averaging an NFL-best 31.5 points per game and lead the league in total yards per game (444), passing yards per game (328.7) and time of possession (36:28).
As for the players, T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne have 1,023 receiving yards combined in 2014, the most in the NFL for any receiving duo.
Andrew Luck leads NFL quarterbacks in passing. The young star from Stanford leads the NFL including former Colts star and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning with 1,987 passing yards and also leads in touchdowns with 17.
The Colts are looking like a high caliber playoff team that many predicted coming into the 2014 season. After losing their first two games, the panic set in for the fans but clearly not the team as they’ve bounced back by beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.
Here’s what Pep Hamilton had to say about the Colts offense to The Indianapolis Star:
"“This is what we envisioned from the standpoint of having the personnel that allows us to do a lot of different things,” Hamilton said this week. “It puts pressure on the defense to decide who they want to try and take away. We feel like we present a conflict to our opponents because we have so many guys on the field at any given time that can make a play for us.”"
Beware Denver, Dallas, Seattle and San Diego, because the Colts offense is lethal and ready to strike.
