After the Oklahoma Sooners got out to an early 7-0 lead on a 2-yard rush by Samaje Perine, Kansas State quickly stuck back. It only took three plays for the Wildcats to get into the end zone after a 62-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Waters to receiver Glenn Gronkowski making the score 7-7 with four minutes left in the first quarter.

After Trevor Knight suffered an injury on Oklahoma’s previous possession, he re-entered the game for Oklahoma. After a couple of dead possessions, Kansas State punted the ball back to Oklahoma at the start of the second quarter and were able to peg it on the Oklahoma 2-yard line.

After Oklahoma suffered a delay of game penalty, they found themselves backed up on their own 1-yard line. On the next play, Trevor Knight threw a ball he wishes he could have back. Danzel McDaniel picked it off and returned it for a touchdown giving Kansas State a 14-7 lead over the Sooners.

Why anyone thought it was smart to run a short out-route when you’re pegged on your own one-yard-line the world may never know, but Kansas State surely appreciated the errant throw.

Kansas State is 4-1 this season after their only loss to Auburn. They’re 2-0 and in contention in the Big 12. With a big win against Oklahoma on the road, they’ll surely be boosted into the discussion along with Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma.
