Kobe Bryant is finally recovered from an ACL injury that took him out all of last season, and he will return to a Los Angeles Lakers squad that doesn’t have nearly as much promise as they one he left. Bryant will, once again, shoulder much of the load on offense and he’s looked quite good in preseason. He’s hitting turn-around jumpers, getting to the rim and dunking–all things that put stress on that ole’ ACL.
During practice, Bryant showed off some of his explosiveness on a one-handed dunk through traffic in a three-on-three drill.
Give Bryant his credit. We hear of so many players coming back from an ACL injury to be cautious of making moves on their knee. Not Kobe. He tells his knee “get up!” and “stop being a wimp!” and proceeds to use it to make those moves we are accustomed to Kobe making.
While the Lakers won’t be any good this season, and even though Byron Scott is the head coach, we can at least enjoy watching them because Kobe is back. Watching him do his thing is a joy, and we should all take advantage of it while we can.
