The Oklahoma Sooners are currently locked in a battle at home against the Kansas State Wildcats, but they’re in this one thanks to the dynamic play of wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who has already hauled in a game-tying touchdown catch.
However, as he was trying to haul in another one, disaster almost struck and the Sooners nearly lost their best player.
Down 21-14, Trevor Knight launched another bomb for Shepard in the end zone and the catch was almost made. When trying to pull in the ball, Shepard landed right on a camera lens, which was a little too close to the field.
This is a problem not just at the college level, but at the NFL as well. It’s understandable that we like to see the perfect shots on some of the amazing plays that are made, but this is the huge negative side to all of that. The camerman obviously wanted to get the shot if Shepard did end up making the catch, but he still should maybe have moved out of the way.
Just a short time after, Shepard headed to the locker room to be evaluated.
