Patrick Reed was the lone American in the Volvo World Match Play Championship and made it to the semifinals before being ousted.

Two of some of the biggest names at the Volvo World Match Play at London Golf Club in Kent, England lost Saturday and are headed home. Patrick Reed and Victor Duibuisson made names from themselves during the 2014 Ryder Cup in September when each player shined for his team.

Patrick Reed lost to George Coetzee, 2 and 1, while Victor Dubuisson fell to Mikko Ilonen, 2 down. This isn’t the first time Reed has lost to Coetzee in a match-play at the WGC Match Play in February.

Coetzee will square off against Henrik Stenson in the semifinals Sunday morning after the Swede took out fellow countryman Jonas Blixt, 2 up. Stenson and Coetzee halved their match on Wednesday in the first day of round-robin play.

The other semifinals match will be played between Mikko Ilonen and frenchman Joost Luiten.

Patrick Reed was the only American in the field. Other big names that were ousted in earlier rounds include Graeme McDowell, Jamie Donaldson, Stephen Gallacher, Francesco Molinari and Paul Casey.

South African Coetze made seven birdies and no bogeys in his match against Patrick Reed, but Patrick Reed hung tough and was only 1 down after making birdie at the par-5 15th. But Coetzee drained a long birdie putt on the par-3 16th to regain a 2-up lead, and Reed was unable to chip in for birdie on 17 to extend the match.

The favorite going into the final day looks like Joost Luiten, who knocked off Pablo Larrazabal, 6 and 5. Luiten has yet to lose a match this week, and he took down defending champion Graeme McDowell on Friday and his semifinal opponent Ilonen on Wednesday.

The finals take place Sunday. We’ll see which of the small names between Ilonen and Luiten can take home the championship.
