The Boston Bruins could debut a line of Lucic, Krejci, and Gagne in their next seasonal matchup

Were the Boston Bruins normally a struggling franchise, no one would be nearly as concerned about their current 2-4-0 record. It’s bad, but it could be so much worse- just ask the Edmonton Oilers. The Bruins are nowhere near the top of the league, but they most certainly aren’t at the very bottom, either.

For a team everyone expected to be perennial cup contenders, though, the Bruins are hurting- badly. The team lost Jarome Iginla in the off-season, and with no money to bring in a comparable replacement, the team has resorted to pulling up youngsters from Providence and signing veterans to league-minimum entry level contracts.

One such veteran is Simon Gagne, who the team signed to a $600,000 1-year contract just last week. Since signing, Gagne has already notched a goal with the team- and it seems like he might be given the opportunity to debut on the team’s top line later this week.

This fist line, which consists of Milan Lucic on the left wing and David Krejci down the center, is a unique top line because it’s almost directly comparable to the team’s second trio of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and Reilly Smith. The team doesn’t need to add a thirty-plus goal scorer in order to fix this line; but with two 40+ goal seasons and two 30+ campaigns under his belt, Gagne could still provide the help this team needs.
