C.J. Spiller was carted off the field for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.Ā

Only a loss could make today’s loss worse for the Buffalo Bills.

No more than 20 minutes after veteran running back in Fred Jackson was carted off the field following a groin injury, running back C.J. Spiller has suffered the same fate, being carted off the field because of a shoulder injury after a 52-yard run from scrimmage.

And like Jackson, it was reported that Spiller was seen with tears in his eyes before being carted off.

  • Without Spiller and Jackson in the picture, the Bills are without their two most productive runners of the last 3 years. This season, Jackson and Spiller have rushed for a combined 461 yards on 120 carries and 1 touchdown. The two are also key pieces in the passing game, with Jackson having 245 receiving yards prior to today (the second most on the team behind Sammy Watkins) and Spiller having 106 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.

In a non-game related matter, Spiller going down with an injury that could sideline him for weeks throws a wrench in the Philadelphia Eagles plans as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the Chip Kelly-led franchise was interested in Spiller as the October 28th trade deadline approaches.

Jackson’s and Spiller’s replacement in Anthony Dixon has rushed for 86 yards on the season.

The Bills may be able to salvage today if they can escape with a victory. They are currently tied 10-10 with the Minnesota Vikings.
