Boston Bruins reassign Seth Griffith and Ryan Spooner to the AHL, make more roster adjustments

The Boston Bruins have been one of the hot topics as the NHL season begins, as the powerhouse franchise struggles to record wins. The Atlantic Division team is currently sitting at a 3-4-0 record, one of the lowest in the league- and one of those wins was over the Buffalo Sabres, who are one of the teams struggling more than any other.

The team has had so much trouble due to their lack of offensive chemistry, in addition to a rusty defense and shaky-looking Tuukka Rask in net The departure of Jarome Iginla to the Colorado Avalanche over the summer left the team with a partial top line, and it seemed like none of the young guys were really meshing with center David Krejci or left wing Milan Lucic.

According to NESN, though, the team has announced that both rookies Seth Griffith and Ryan Spooner will be departing for the AHL Providence Bruins, while Simon Gagne will be taking their place on the team’s top line. Where he was skating on the fourth line, youngster Matt Fraser will become a stronger staple.

Gagne scored his first goal for the team in his first game under contract with the Bruins; in contrast, neither Griffith nor Spooner had managed to record a point playing top-six minutes for the franchise.

Both players are natural centers, but the Bruins have announced that they will be given ample time in Providence to work on swapping over to the wing; the Bruins are overcrowded down the middle, but are particularly weak on the right side. Griffith and Spooner can each expect to receive more time with the club in the instance that a player goes out with injury.
