A week after tying Jim Brown’s record for consecutive 100-yard rushing games to start a season against the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys’ running back DeMarco Murray broke the NFL record in the beginning of the fourth quarter against the New York Giants Sunday.
Murray has now rushed for more than 100 yards in seven-straight games to start the season and owns the record. It breaks Brown’s record set in 1958 with the Cleveland Browns. Murray’s name appears above legends Brown and O.J. Simpson, who ran for more than 100 yards in five-straight games in both the 1973 and 1975 seasons.
Entering the game, Murray rushed for 785 yards and six touchdowns on 159 attempts through six games. He’s a big reason why the Cowboys sit at a surprising 5-1.
His games include 118 yards against the San Francisco 49ers, 167 yards against the Tennessee Titans, 100 yards against the St. Louis Rams, 149 yards against the New Orleans Saints, 136 yards against the Houston Texans and 115 yards against the Seahawks. He broke the record in the beginning of the fourth quarter against the Giants.
Murray was drafted out of Oklahoma in the third round, 71st overall, in the 2011 draft. He has 3,466 yards on 701 attempts and 21 touchdowns in his four-year career. The 26-year-old running back is set to become a free agent this off-season, and you know he’s going to get a huge pay day.
