Editor’s note: This post will take a look at the top Fantasy Football Week 4 scoring leaders and top performers from the early games.
More from Chicago Bears
Any week where the Jaguars and Rams get wins and the defending champs go down hard is sure to have plenty of unexpected results. Not only were there some surprises, there were also some great finishes with games coming down to the wire in St. Louis, Washington, and Buffalo. The fantasy performances were inconsistent and surprising as well, but there were some stars who came up huge.
In the nine games that started at 1:00 ET, here were the best fantasy football performers:
Russell Wilson-QB-Seattle Seahawks
Wilson piled up huge numbers in the Seahawks comeback attempt which ultimately fell just short as they lost in St. Louis. Wilson finished with 313 yards passing and added 106 on the ground while rushing for a touchdown and throwing for two. He totaled 36 points in ESPN standard scoring which was 12 more than any other player in the week up to the end of the early games.
Aaron Rodgers-QB-Green Bay Packers
Rodgers and the Packers looked like the best team in the NFC as they rolled to a 38-17 win over Carolina. Rodgers completed 19 of his 22 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns. He added 21 yards on the ground and continues to be an elite QB in ever sense of the word.
Ryan Tannehill-QB-Miami Dolphins
While Rodgers and Wilson are expected to produce like QB1’s Ryan Tannehill had a surprsingly good game for the Dolphins in their upset of Chicago in Soldier Field. Tannehill threw for 277 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 48 on the ground. Tannehill has established himself as a definite QB2 who has upside in good matchups like this one.
Forte totaled over 100 all-purpose yards and scored both the Bears touchdowns in their loss to Miami. He finished with 49 yards rushing on 12 carries with a touchdown and added his second touchdown on one of his six catches which he took for 60 yards.
With Calvin Johnson still sidelined, Tate stepped up finishing with 154 yards and a touchdown on ten catches. When Megatron returns, he’ll get fewer passes his way, but he’s showing he has the talent to produce when given the chance as he helped the Lions complete an amazing comeback.
Despite a back-breaking interception, Brees finished with solid numbers on the road in the Saints loss to the Lions. He threw for 342 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but Saints fans will be upset about a dumb interception that ultimately set up the Lions to finish their comeback.
Like Forte, Bradshaw found the end zone in both the running and receiving game. In the Colts rout of the Bengals, Bradshaw had 52 yards rushing with a touchdown on ten carries and added 36 yards on three catches with his second touchdown.
Although Jordy Nelson caught the early bomb for a touchdown, Cobb finished with better numbers on the day hauling in six passes for 121 yards to go with his touchdown. The Packers spread the ball around well, so look for both Nelson and Cobb to stay WR1’s in fantasy the rest of the season.
After trading Percy Harvin in the middle of the week, the Seahawks needed someone to step up at WR and veteran leader Doug Baldwin did just that. Baldwin finished with 123 yards on his seven catches while finding the end zone in the Seahawks road loss to the Rams.
The Jags upset win over Cleveland finally gave Robinson the chance to have his breakout game. He’s been stuck in a timeshare most of the season, but he showed in this game the upside he has when given the carries. He ran for 127 yards and a touchdown on his 22 carries and could see more work going forward for Jacksonville.
It wasn’t a huge day for tight ends in the early games, but the highest scorer was the Seahawks Cooper Helfet who had an amazing catch on the sideline for his touchdown as part of a three-catch, 61-yard day. With the Seahawks looking for weapons in the receiving game, Helfet does have some upside.
The Jags are usually in the D/ST conversation as a matchup to attack, but today their defense came up huge against the Brown forcing three turnovers while allowing only six points and adding three sacks.
