The

Brooklyn Nets

got off to a terrible start last season, starting their 2013-2014 campaign with a record of 10-21 under first year

NBA

head coach Jason Kidd. Throughout the season, both Jason Kidd and his Nets showed improvement and wound up finished 34-17, good for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. They wound up taking down the

Toronto Raptors

in seven games before falling to the

Miami Heat

in five.

It looked Jason Kidd was figuring things out but after a battle with the Nets, he was essentially traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks got second round picks in the deal and wound up hiring former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins.

Because they were willing to deal him, Jason Kidd believes that the Nets really were close to firing him back in December after that rough start.

“Did I want to be traded?” said Kidd, whose Bucks play the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Monday via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN New York. “I think once [the Nets] OK’d the talk to Milwaukee, that just showed, whatever you want to call it, rumors or no rumors that they wanted to fire me in December had to have some legs.”

Jason Kidd doesn’t sound too confident in the current direction of the Nets either.

“I believe it,” Kidd said when asked about Pierce’s comments about not being offered a contract. “I mean, if they don’t offer [Pierce] a contract worth what a first-round pick is, then why did we do the deal [last year for Pierce and Garnett]?”

Jason Kidd and the Milwaukee Bucks will visit Brooklyn for the first time on November 19.
