Leafs’ Brandon Kozun Could Be Out For Six Weeks
Brandon Kozun could be out for a month and a half, per NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk
The NHL has been home to a whole slew of injuries early on in the season- not near as many (nor as significant) as during preseason, but certainly enough to take note.

One such injury was inflicted upon Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Brandon Kozun, during their first of two back-to-back match ups against the Detroit Red Wings.
Kozun went down awkwardly along the boards on his leg during the Leafs’ game Friday night, and had to be assisted off the ice. He was confirmed as out for the team’s second match up against Detroit on Saturday, but the news only broke of how long he would be out Sunday afternoon.
According to NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk, the lower body injury has been confirmed as a high ankle sprain- and it could keep Kozun out for as long as a month and a half. Not exactly how one wants to start his rookie campaign.
Kozun wasn’t alone in his injury on Friday night, as the Red Wings lost Johan Franzen during the same game for a lower body injury as well. The rookie recorded his first assist with the team on opening night, as he helped Nazem Kadri score the Leafs’ opening goal of the season. He was the dark horse coming out of training camp this fall, but impressed the front office with his speed and dedication during the pre-season.
