After an injury-filled season that saw the
go 27-55, they are hoping to show great improvement this year with guards Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant returning for their injuries.
Steve Nash believes he is improving but continues to fight off injuries and how much he will play next season is still up in the air.
“I expected things to happen. It’s inevitable with everything I’ve gone through that there’s going to be issues adapting back to the game,” Nash said before practice at the team’s facility via Baxter Holmes of ESPN Los Angeles. “On the other hand, I did get through seven or eight hard days well, which I didn’t do last year. So there is some improvement, and if I can adapt continually once I heal up here, I’ll be back on course.”
Lakers head coach Byron Scott doesn’t know what the future is for Steve Nash.
“I really don’t know what the future holds for Steve right now,” Scott said. “The one thing I do know, like I said, in talking to him, [is] he wants to play. He wants to play badly.”
Even if Steve Nash is in the lineup, it is likely going to be a long season.
Steve Nash played just 20.9 minutes per game. He averaged 6.8 points, 5.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game while shooting 38.3% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 91.7% from the free throw line last season. In his 18-year career, he has averaged 14.3 points, 8.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49.0% from the floor, 42.8% from three and 90.4% from the free throw line.
