Cuban believes in the Dallas Cowboys. While some might accuse him of ‘homerism’ by picking the team in the same city as his Dallas Mavericks, that’s just not really Cuban’s style. There are plenty of reasons to buy into the Cowboys as legitimate contenders, from their commitment to the running game to their surprisingly solid play on the defensive side of the ball so far.
That’s what Cuban is referring to with his prediction, probably. Or maybe not. Here is the analysis he offered this week while appearing on ‘Good Morning America’, as passed along by the Dallas Morning News:
"“It is going to be the Cowboys versus the Broncos with the Cowboys coming on top 53-51 in the highest scoring Super Bowl ever.”"
It’s not as if Cuban and Jerry Jones are exactly old friends, so this must be the genuine opinion of Cuban when he puts his ‘NFL analyst’ hat on.
The Cowboys very well might be Super Bowl contenders given the way they have started this season, but it is hard to envision them winning a college-style blowout in the fashion predicted by the Mavericks’ owner. The ticket to success for Jason Garrett and company thus far has been ball control with DeMarco Murray and an offensive line that is absolutely mauling people.
53-51 sounds more like a game where the ball gets chucked all over the yard. Let’s just say that I hardly believe anybody is willing to think Tony Romo is ready to do that under the biggest spotlight, no matter how good the vibes are in Dallas right now.
