Percy Harvin will join the third team of his NFL career as he heads to the New York Jets. He will be joining a teammate that he considers a mentor in quarterback Michael Vick.

If the reports following the Percy Harvin trade are to be believed, then the New York Jets have their work cut out for them with the wide receiver. Besides the challenge of finding a way to use him in their offense, the Jets have to find a way to make Harvin fit in the locker room without causing too much of a disruption.
The Seahawks appear to have had trouble with Harvin and their team chemistry, which might have been one of the motivating factors in trading him in the first place.
As far as that challenge is concerned, the Jets might feel that they have an important resource in their favor. Veteran quarterback Michael Vick is reportedly close with Harvin, a guy whom Harvin considers a mentor. The Jets might believe that they can ease Harvin’s transition and set him up for success as a result.
From Ian Rapoport:
Percy Harvin talks to @MikeVick once a week, considers him a mentor. The hope is that the #Jets QB will ease Harvin’s transition to NY.

As far as Vick’s contributions to the cause in New York, he did appear to be overly interested in actually playing when given a shot recently. He still might have something to offer off the field, however, and so he will now look to help Harvin as he arrives in New York.
