Kai Forbath’s 22-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Washington Redskins over the Tennessee Titans 19-17 on Sunday, snapping Washington’s four-game losing streak.

A pass inference call against Jason McCourty put the Redskins down to the the Titans’ 7 with 38 seconds remaining, setting up Forbath’s fourth field goal of the afternoon. He had earlier booted field goals from 31, 31 and 27 yards, as Washington improved to 2-5 on the season.

Washington found offensive life in the form of backup quarterback Colt McCoy, who replaced turnover-prone Kirk Cousins to open the second half. McCoy’s first pass of the day found the hands of wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who sprinted 70 yards for the Redskins’ sole touchdown of the day, giving them a 13-10 lead. McCoy finished 11 of 12 for 128 yards in place of Cousins, who threw for 139 yards in the first half, but also tossed an interception and lost a fumble.

Tennessee (2-4) had taken a 17-16 lead at the 7:41 mark of the fourth quarter when Charlie Whitehurst found Derek Hagan for a 38-yard touchdown. Whitehurst also tossed a 14-yard touchdown strike to Kendall Wright late in the first half, but could only manage just 161 yards on his 17 completions, as he started for a second straight game for injured starter Jake Locker.

Washington held Tennessee to just 236 total yards, but did lose linebacker Brian Orakpo in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury.

The loss was the first by the Titans against the Redskins in four games since the franchise moved from Houston to Tennessee in 1997.
