After an embarrassing defeat at home at the hands of Missouri, Will Muschamp is not expected to be fired on Sunday by the Florida Gators

Many believe that the Florida Gators, who have seen more than their share of downs over the last two seasons, finally hit rock bottom on Saturday. Inside the Swamp, the Gators were obliterated by a Missouri team that for lack of a better description, isn’t all that good. Will Muschamp needs to be fired immediately now, right? It needs to happen.

Well, for those that believe that last sentiment, you might not like what you’re about to hear.

According to Mark Long of the Associated Press, Muschamp’s job will be safe on Sunday. However, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that AD Jeremy Foley could let everything sink in for another day or two and then eventually change his mind.

This really shouldn’t be all that surprising. While maybe Muschamp should lose his job soon, that soon might just come in a few weeks when the season ends. Eight weeks into the season it’s fairly obvious that the Gators are not going to turn things around this year like some expected they would, so there’s really no good reason to oust him now.

One thing is for certain, though, and that’s the fact that this will be one of the stories to keep an eye on, at least until the middle of the week.
