Bortles had his worst individual performance in his four NFL starts, completing 17-of-31 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown, but with three interceptions.
"“The defense and offensive line and running game won this game, no doubt about it,” Bortles told reporters (via the St. Augustine Record). “Anybody can see that. Obviously, I’m not happy with the way I played, but I’m extremely happy with the outcome of the game.”"
His touchdown was a big one: A 31-yard connection with Allen Robinson with 27 seconds left in the first half that gave the Jaguars a 7-6 lead.
Jacksonville (1-6) outscored Cleveland (3-3) 17-0 in the second half and Denard Robinson had a big game, posting his first career 100-yard rushing game. He had 127 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown starting at running back in place of injured Toby Gerhart.
Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch told Bortles during the game to just keep looking ahead. Fisch met Bortles on the sideline after Bortles threw a careless pick in the first half.
"“I told him, ‘That’s not going to be the last pick you ever throw so move on,’” Fisch said. “We weren’t going to sit there and just go through each pick. We can talk about that [Monday].”"
For the season, Bortles has completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,163 yards and five touchdowns, with 10 interceptions. He also has 143 rushing yards.
