The Cleveland Cavaliers have brought back LeBron James, traded for Kevin Love and are poised to make a run at the NBA Finals. After their preseason game against the Chicago Bulls, there is clearly work to be done.

After the Cleveland Cavaliers preseason game against the Chicago Bulls, there are clear things that need to happen before anything is considered won and done in favor of the Cavaliers. While Cleveland didn’t lose the game, the Bulls exposed some weaknesses that need to be addressed before the season begins.

Derrick Rose was the story of the game as he went for 27 points in the biggest game of his return season yet. It’s just the preseason, and all of the success that Rose is having should be taken with a grain of salt, but the fact that he looked like he was back is something that Bulls fans are already loving.

It’s also something that Cavaliers fans are dreading. On more than one occasion on Monday night, rose made the Cavs look foolish.

There were positives for the Cavaliers though, as the starters indeed played regular season minutes the whole way through. Kevin Love only notched 9 points on the night, but grabbed 13 rebounds. LeBron James’ 18 points was nice to see but it was Anderson Varejao who owned the frontcourt on Monday night.

Varejao went for 22 points and was the second leading scorer for the Cavaliers behind Kyrie Irving’s 28 points. The duo combined for 50 points on the night, which was almost half of Cleveland’s point total on the night.

Things weren’t perfect for either team, but if there was one thing confirmed on Monday night it was that when the Cavaliers and Bulls meet this season, it’s going to be entertaining.
