The Clemson Tigers’ battered ground game took another hit as the team announced leading rusher Adam Choice is out for the year with a torn ACL.

The hits just keep on coming for the Clemson Tigers.

The Tigers lost junior running back Zac Brooks to a broken foot before the season began, are currently playing without freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson and now have lost freshman running back Adam Choice—the team’s leading rusher—for the season.

Choice sustained a torn ACL during the first half of Clemson’s 17-13 win at Boston College Saturday and will be lost for the year.

"“I feel bad for Adam, because he was really coming on, just hitting his stride,” coach Dabo Swinney told reporters, via the Anderson (S.C.) Independent-Mail. “It’s a big, big loss for us. Between him and Zac Brooks, that’s two really good players we’re without. We still have enough to get the job done, but it’s still a big loss.”"

Choice had 218 yards and a touchdown on 50 carries, playing in six of seven games for the Tigers, who are 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Tigers have won four straight since their overtime loss at Florida State, but trail the Seminoles in the ACC’s Atlantic Division.

Choice has played in six games, which means he is not eligible for a medical redshirt. The true freshman was going to redshirt this season, but had that plan change when Brooks was hurt in August.

Clemson will get back redshirt freshman running back Tyshon Dye, who has been rehabilitating an injured Achilles tendon since February.

The Tigers, ranked No. 21 in the latest Associated Press poll, host Syracuse this Saturday.
