Dallas Stars forward Val Nichushkin will remain on the injured list, per Sports Illustrated

I have this obsession with Val Nichushkin, and am relatively pissed off that I haven’t been provided the opportunity to shove his breakout season in everyone’s faces yet.

More from Dallas Stars

The forward has been on the Stars‘ injured list for the majority of the month, and has not played since October 11th. The team finally announced that he would be placed on injured reserve on October 19th, though, at the same time that the team announced a recall of Texas Stars defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka.

Jokipakka has already recorded a power-play goal with the Stars and sits on a +1 rating for the AHL affiliate; while he cannot specifically sub in for right winger Nichushkin, the offensive blue-liner will hopefully be able to help the team find more scorepower as the season progresses.

The Stars currently have a 2-1-2 record early on in the season, which is somewhere between the phenomenal start seen by the Montreal Canadiens and the abysmal start seen by the Colorado Avalanche. Having Nichushkin ouut, and given substantial time to allow a groin injury to heal, should prep the team to see more goals from him once he is able to return.

Of course, I hope he’s back and better than ever in time for the holidays. He’s got this festive spirit that I can’t seem to get out of my head:

Get well soon, Valeri.
