Doug Baldwin Blames Percy Harvin Trade For Seahawks Loss
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin is citing the Percy Harvin trade to the New York Jets as one reason why the team lost to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday in one of the bigger upsets in the NFL this season
The surprising trade of Percy Harvin to the Jets may have had some residual effects on the Seahawks as they played the Rams on Sunday, two days after the trade of the high-profile receiver, and Doug Baldwin thinks the “emotional roller coaster” they were on hurt them in the loss to the Rams.

“Obviously the shock of the transaction and what took place there made for a bit of an emotional roller coaster,” Baldwin said, via ESPN.com. “When something that drastic happens, right before we get on the bus [to go to the airport for the trip], there is going to be an emotional impact. I felt we handled it to the best of our ability, but I think it might have been a factor in some way.”
Certainly this was one of the bigger upsets in the NFL this year, but to think it had anything to do with a player who wasn’t there would seem to be an invalid excuse by Baldwin.

The players are professionals and the coaching staff was responsible to get this team ready to play, but with such an emotional game like pro football is, so maybe there is a small shread of truth in that comment, but Baldwin was quick to point out that there were a number of factors that played into the Seahawks 28-26 loss to the Rams.
“There’s obviously a lot of things that went on this week that affected the team in numerous ways,” Baldwin said. “As a competitor, you don’t want to admit those things. But as a human, it is human nature. It took us a little while to get on track. I’m just proud we responded the way we did and fought until the very end.”
