On Friday night the Seattle Seahawks sent Percy Harvin to the New York Jets, today we get our first look at the receiver in his new uniform.
The New York Jets took Percy Harvin off of the Seattle Seahawks hands by way of a trade they pulled off on Friday night. The Jets had to part ways with a conditional sixth round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft in order to complete the move.
Now, Harvin is on the practice field donning his new colors for the first time today.
Thanks to the Instagram feed of Albert Breer, we get our first look at what the Jets newest wide receiver looks like in his new threads. It appears that he will wear the number 16 for New York.
Percy Harvin was dealt out of Seattle thanks in large part to the baggage he carries with him as an individual. Being a tumultuous teammate, one that had reportedly gotten into fights with multiple other wide receivers for the Seahawks, Seattle had decided they had enough.

For Harvin, he sees New York as a fresh start, and is reportedly ecstatic about the new opportunity.
While Seattle has been applauded as a franchise for making a smart decision to cut ties after a player didn’t work out, the narrative may not be so solid. Darrell Bevell is the Seahawks offensive coordinator, he held the same position in Minnesota while Harvin was a member of the Vikings.
Upon coming to Seattle, Bevell was likely consulted as to the type of player Harvin was. He knew what they were getting. Seattle traded multiple picks to bring Harvin to the Pacific Northwest.
Harvin sat out nearly all of last season due to injuries, something that has plagued his career. However, this season he remained healthy. Russell Wilson and Bevell only managed to get Harvin the ball 22 times through 7 weeks.
While Harvin moving on to the Jets may be locker room relief for Seattle, Geno Smith being able to utilize his new target on low risk routes much like Christian Ponder was able to in Minnesota, could make the Jets offense more dynamic.
At any rate, look for Harvin to don his new green and white colors on Sunday as New York welcomes the Buffalo Bills to town.
