By Josh Hill
Austin Pettis was looking to earn his keep with the St. Louis Rams, but showing up late to a team meeting on Saturday ended up costing him is job.
The St. Louis Rams made a decision that has shocked some fans in Missouri, as the team has released wide receiver Austin Pettis following an incident he was involved this weekend.

That incident ended up being a missed team meeting, but head coach Jeff Fisher was not about to make exceptions for players missing meetings. According to ESPN.com’s Adam Caplan, The Rams have indeed waived Pettis despite him being one of the more promising receivers on the roster.
FOX Sports insider Mike Garafolo confirmed that the reason Pettis was cut had to do with his missing a team meeting.
Pettis was looking to work his way into the Rams receiving rotation more and more, but at the end of the day, he was not someone important enough for the team to bend the rules for. Pettis will more than likely land on his feet, but he may have blown a huge opportunity in St. Louis after his boneheaded move to miss a meeting.
