This Sunday night WWE will present their Hell in a Cell show live from Dallas, Texas. Throughout the years since its inception in 1997, matches in this particular structure has provided us with some of the more iconic moments in the history of the wrestling business.
However, for as many of those moments that we have seen, none even come close to what happened during a Hell in a Cell match at King of the Ring 1998 between The Undertaker and Mankind.
These two icons were embroiled in a heated feud, which of course called for them to square off in this exact match. Going in it was expected to be a battle, but none of us had a remote to as to what was coming.
Mankind, better known as Mick Foley, was out first and he climbed directly to the top of the cage to wait for his opponent. When Undertaker came out, he was more than happy to oblige Foley and get right up there with him.
Well after a little over a minute into the match, that historical moment happened. After trading some blows at the top of the cell, Undertaker just grabbed Foley and proceeded to toss him off the top and right through the Spanish announce table, much to the shock of Jim Ross.
With so many moments that we dismiss in the history of wrestling, this is one that will live on forever. This clip will be played on video packages throughout the years, and whenever someone talks about a Hell in a Cell match, this is the first thing that you think about.
We won’t see anything remotely close to this on Sunday from Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, John Cena or Randy Orton; but that’s okay, because no matter how hard two men try, they would never be able to recreate this moment.
