Yankees Will Not Name Dave Magadan Hitting Coach
There were numerous reports that the Yankees might hire Dave Magadan as their hitting coach, but today those reports were deemed false.
The New York Yankees missed the MLB playoffs once more this season, and in response they fired their hitting coach Kevin Long. Letting Long go was decided on by general manager Brian Cashman, but now Cashman needs to find a replacement for Long. It was revealed today that Dave Magadan who was being considered to fill the open slot, will not get the job as hitting coach.
Magadan is expected to be a frontrunner for the Oakland A’s hitting coach position now that he has received word that the Yankees won’t be hiring him. Kevin Long, who was just fired by the Yankees, most likely won’t be unemployed for much longer. The Mets have shown serious interest in Long and Long’s former player, Curtis Granderson, would love to have him as his hitting coach again.
