Dwayne Allen-TE-Indianapolis Colts (28.4%)

While many owners will hit the wire in search of Gavin Escobar after his big performance Sunday against New York, I think the best tight end pickup who is widely available is Colts TE Dwayne Allen.  Allen is much more established and is a huge red zone presence in an offense that continues to roll right along behind Andrew Luck’s continued development as an elite passer.

Allen has been steady if not spectacular aside from one bagel which he took back in week 2.  In the rest of the Colts games, Allen has either three or four catches every game with five touchdowns in those six contests. This week, Allen had 52 yards on his three catches and once again found the end zone.

Next week, Allen and the Colts take on the Steelers on a short week in Pittsburgh before taking on the Giants in New York.  Both matchups are pretty good and Allen is a consistent part of the Colts attack.  He still shares time with Coby Fleener, but he’s getting enough looks to make him a fantasy pickup that’s a safe bet even though he may not have the high upside that Escobar has in Dallas.
