Mets Meeting With Kevin Long On Wednesday
The New York Mets are starting off their pursuit of a hitting coach by interviewing Kevin Long on Wednesday.
The New York Mets are searching for a hitting coach and they are interviewing candidate and former Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long on Wednesday October 21st. Long has a lose relationship with current Mets slugger Curtis Granderson and Granderson still practices Long’s pre game rituals to this day. Bringing back Long could help revitalize Granderson who had a rough go of it last season. MLB players often go through rough patches, but for a hitter of Granderson’s magnitude to struggle for an entire season is hard to believe.

The Mets have shown serious interest in Long since the Yankees fired him and it looks like this deal can be coming into place soon if the interview is successful. The Mets are hoping that their new hitting coach whether it’s Long or anyone else can help David Wright and Curtis Granderson return to All Star form. The curse that Mets fans feel has intruded their clubhouse, which has every player that becomes a Met starting to decline happened to Granderson last year. The Mets are hoping that the first year of Grandy in blue and orange was a fluke and that he doesn’t join Jason Bay and Carlos Baerga among others that declined when putting on a Mets uniform.
First things first, we need to see how Long’s interview goes tomorrow. If all goes well I expect him to get the job, due to his history as a good hitting coach and his connection with Curtis Granderson.
