Many thought he would have trouble making it with the Rams because they are absolutely stacked along the defensive line. That turned out to be true – he was cut before the regular season. The Dallas Cowboys signed him to their practice squad but he was released so they could sign linebacker Troy Davis on Tuesday.
Michael Sam took to twitter to issue a statement about his release.

Michael Sam responded with class and took the bad news in stride as he usually does. Obviously, this is a huge disappointment but Michael Sam will likely get another chance somewhere. In fact, with how quiet it was on the Michael Sam front during his stay on the Cowboys’ practice squad, he may have an even better chance of getting picked up now. Other teams can see that he wasn’t nearly the distraction some thought he would be. Clearly if he were on the 53-man roster, it would have gotten a lot more hype but it was good to see him great treated like a regular player – it mean we’re moving in the right direction.
