The New York Giants worked out a pair of journeymen running backs on Tuesday, as Felix Jones and Alex Green were at the team’s facility.

Jones played in 16 games with the Steelers last season, starting a pair of contests. He finished with 184 yards on 48 carries while also averaging 22.5 yards per kickoff return. The former Arkansas standout was a first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2008 and has rushed for 2,912 yards and 11 touchdowns in his 80 career games.

Like Jones, Green last saw action during the 2013 season, where he appeared in 13 games with the Jets. He rushed for 35 yards on 11 carries and caught two passes for eight yards. Green originally was drafted by the Packers in the third round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Hawaii. He has 510 yards rushing in 29 career games, along with 21 receptions for 139 yards.

The workouts are considered to be just routine for the Giants, who are on bye this week after a 31-21 loss at the Cowboys dropped them to 3-4. The team has used rookie Andre Williams as its featured back in the two previous games after Rashad Jennings sustained a knee injury during New York’s 30-20 win over Atlanta on October 5. Jennings still leads the team with 396 yards on 91 carries and two touchdowns. Williams has managed just 100 yards on 35 carries in losses to the Eagles and Cowboys.

Jennings, who was acquired as a free agent this spring, is expected to return to the lineup when the Giants welcome the Colts for a Monday night contest on November 3.
